How much does disability pay in Kentucky?

How much will disability pay?

If you live in Kentucky and you are thinking about filing an application for disability with Social Security, you may want to know what your disability pay will be. Social Security Disability programs have no set monthly disability pay amount. The amount you will receive depends upon the disability program you are eligible to receive benefits in, either SSD or SSI.

Social Security Disability amounts vary greatly between claimants, because monthly benefits are determined by the amount and years of earnings an individual has prior to becoming disabled. The average amount for SSD beneficiaries in the state of Kentucky is $1250.00. Of course, this is just an average some will receive more than this and others will receive less than this amount. The maximum disability amount for 2019 is $2861.00 per month.

On the other hand, if you live in Kentucky and you are eligible for the need based SSI disability program, there is a set maximum benefit of $771.00 for a single person and $1157.00 for a couple both entitled to SSI. Keep in mind with SSI these are maximum amounts that can be lessened by living arrangements, help from family or friends, and work activity.

Both SSI and SSD are federal programs and as such the potential disability benefit amounts are the computed the same in Kentucky and every other state.
