What is the minimum you can get on disability in Kentucky?

The minimum disability amount you can receive in Kentucky

There is, in actuality, no minimum amount you can get on disability in Kentucky or any state (the SSDI and SSI system is federal and standardized). There are, however, maximum amounts that can be received if you are given a Social Security Disability award or an SSI award.

To see the current SSI maximum monthly benefit amount.

When it comes to SSDI, or Social Security Disability benefits, the maximum amount a person may receive will be based on their years of work experience and how much has been paid into the system via fica taxes. The current absolute maximum anyone may receive is over $2500; however, it is uncommon for anyone to receive that amount and the average monthly benefit currently received is well under two thousand dollars per month.

Because monthly disability benefits often do not replace a person's former earnings, this is why the issue of disability back pay is very important. Claimants can potentially receive tens of thousands of dollars in SSD back pay, or SSI back pay.

However, the amount of back pay that is received will depend on how far back a person's disability is proven to have begun. And this is where the value of having an able disability lawyer can be seen.
