Can you file for disability after you file for early Social Security Retirement?

Question: My wife took early SS at 62. She can no longer work as her previus occupation because of numerous surgeries limiting her lifting capacities. Can she file for disability SS after the fact? If so, how?

If your wife is not within six months of her full retirement age, she can file for disability. She can file with her local Social Security office by phone or in person. She may be able to file online, however there is the possibility that may not work because she is receiving retirement.
