Too many?
![]() |
Can you have too many links on a links page? Sometimes, I have to wonder. Take this one, for example. This is a religious site known as Fresh Hope. It has a links page that is well developed or overly developed depending on how you view it. Frankly, I found this page a little hard to view, simply because there were so many links on the page. Add that to the small font size and I just don't find it particularly friendly on the eyes or very usable.
It's for this reason that I prefer the the approach used by the open directory project and sites that have a similar hierarchical-categorical structure. Because of the way they are laid out, they are simply easier to use and, because of that, I find myself returning every now and then.
However, having said that, the truth is that not many people use directories. And I even have to wonder how many people use link lists. Which makes one wonder about the future of using links as a voting system for sites.
