First Step is sponsored by a variety of governmental agencies to help homeless individuals get back into the mainstream. This website provides useful information about many federal and state programs, such as Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, food assistance programs, and housing programs. Additionally, it has suggestions to help with potential job searches, such as how to clean up an individual's criminal background. This website is designed to help case managers and outreach workers become better benefit counselors so that their homeless clients can achieve more stable lives.
